Night Fears.......
54
Twilight and sticky in the humid
august air uncomfortable .... such an anomaly
Lightning flashes in the distance you can feel the
friction in the air as thunder rolls into your valley
Grey- green the base of the thunderclouds
while you pull the covers for protection
Primal fears in the molecules of air left over
from days rejection
Instantly blasted winds jangle the wind chimes
the barn door slams on rusted hinges
And in the mist on the meadows a glow
lights the trees on the fringes
The unnerving eye of nature flickers in fear
forming the funnel cloud
Deafening explosions ...... thunder
vibrating walls .......so damn loud
Just when you awake in the darkness after the
rains .....you walk in the dark across the room
Drawing the shade away from the window
searching into the darkest gloom
And there on the dangerous edge of light
something moves .........what is going on
While you wring your hands there at the window
untill ..slowly .....early dawn
Eyes wide shut ....you try to sleep ....fatigue
controls your hearing .....whats that sound
Slowly .......so slowly into fatiguing mist
the drumming rains lie down
Awakening you before light ......the rumbling
fear in your soul steals away
And as the robins begin there singing
finally you lie awake .......another day

I love the sound of a storm at night - somehow it soothes me to know the rage is outside of me and I can hide yet again.
You captured the tempest wonderfully -
Stay safe and dry my friend

Another great read! You are so talented with lyrical descriptions!
Very good.
I love the way your words are descriptive and I can feel them. I have had many a dark night like that where I lay there, wondering, waiting to sleep and yet find it elusive. Awaiting the light of dawn to bring in the new day, and forget the past darkness.
Beautiful.
Blessings and hugs,
Laurie
Ahorseback, first let me confess that for some unknown reason I appeared to not be following you? scratching my head:0) I immediately corrected that and am now following you, I always thought I was?
This work is exceptional, the imagery is incredible as usual, you know how to pull things from your soul and put them to paper. I felt the thunder, rain and the smell of the air after a good down pour. Simply brilliant this work is, Bravo, I applaud you and rate this Up way Up..
I see and hear it now. Perfection.
*laughs* Ahorseback!!! Maybe I do!! I have had one since I was a little girl, and there are times when I do cuddle up in it, and it makes things seem all better. I have never been a fan of the dark and also sleep with a nightlite! I know, I know just a big baby at heart!
*hugs*
Laurie
Beautiful expression... You have a wonderful way about your writing... Thanks for the great read tonight!
So talented a writer, your visuals are outstanding allowing the reader to be with you in your posts. I'm a fan of yours now after reading enough to note that you will continue to bring great writes, and great reads here.
Wow this poem describes my nightly ritual! It comes from mostly the storms within. Anxiety disorder no doubt keeps most awake...not to mention dreading the next work day! Full of imagery
